Announcing Our New Non-Profit Entity
Part of the Yankee Street Farm and Garden’s overall mission is to provide education, research, and accessibility around regenerative market gardening. We have formed a new 501C3 corporation called Hippocrates Harvest to facilitate these objectives.
Hippocrates of Kos was a Greek physician who lived around 400BC and was known as the “Father of Western Medicine.” He was one of the physicians to connect what we eat with our health and ability to fight disease.
Like him, we believe in the power of organic, fresh, local food and want to create a space to share and collaborate with other like-minded educators, farmers, and researchers to further our understanding and techniques that regenerative, small market farms practice.
The purpose of Hippocrates Harvest is to:
Provide education for aspiring organic farmers
Facilitate access to fresh local food for people in need
Conduct research in regenerative market gardening.
Our new entity will allow us to apply for grants, receive tax-free donations, create a robust volunteer network, and provide hands-on-the-farm scholarships to young agricultural students. We are excited to add Hippocrates Harvest into the YSFG family, and we are confident that the synergies across both organizations will be a boon for all.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting new venture.
