Field Day!

Last fall we decided that we should begin the process of getting our largest, sunniest field ready for production. That means cover crops—we grow vegetable crops for food to feed us: and cover crops to feed the soil. We’ll mow this field in a few more weeks and in its place plant buckwheat for bee forage. Next fall we’ll mow it and plant another winter mix. The soil gets healthier and the weeds get fewer with every rotation. And besides, it’s nice to look at. Learn more about cover crops by watching one of our favorite movies, Kiss the Soil.
