60,000 Bees in our Bonnet

Last fall our bee population was decimated. You can read all about it here. Over the winter we lost two more hives. This year we are doubling down with a new apiary location, hives and 5 queens. We now have the best looking hives in central Ohio - hand painted by Maddie - with bee-friendly artwork. Their new home has a great view of our new cover crop field. Next month we’ll plant buckwheat, one of their favorites. Each queen comes with 3 lbs of friends - or 12,000 more bees. Their new home is buzzing with activity. We’re building stronger hives that will be able to ward off the late-season intruders.
