Spring has Sprung

McLane and her team have been busy this Spring preparing beds and planting some of the early crops. As of today, we have transplanted 100’ each of peas, broccoli, beets, spinach, lettuce and arugula. We’ve also direct seeded 100’ of carrots. We are preparing the north section of the big garden on the hill. Last year was the first one for this new space and it was midseason before we got anything planted up there. This year, the new plot will provide the lion’s share of our bounty. Other improvements include taking trees out to increase the amount of light that falls on our two gardens, installing new carbon water filtration, ozone systems, lines and hydrants (to make all our well water used for irrigation and wash stations potable) and purchasing a new trailer to convert into a cold room for transporting just-harvested product.

We have sold 28 of 30 shares so if you are still interested in joining our CSA and getting your share of good eatin’, now is the time. Next year we are hoping to expand our subscriptions and offerings as we develop our infrastructure and processes.

Living this simple life is not so simple!
